Freedom Northwest Credit Union (FNWCU) in cooperation with the City of Kamiah and the City of Kooskia are constructing Kids’ Splash Fountain sites at each city park.
FNWCU has been working with the City of Kamiah, the City of Kooskia, and Idaho Stage Construction (as project manager) on the fountains for the last few months. The fountains each have 7 ground sprayers and a center statue located on a 36 foot circular splash pad at the city parks. Visitors will enjoy in-ground water-play elements that spray and mist in different directions and heights. FNWCU has donated funding for the fountains, while the cities will be doing the infrastructure for the water and drainage.
FNWCU Board Chairman Doug Warrington said, “Part of our commitment is to give back to our home communities. We are excited by the opportunity to improve our parks and recreation for the families and children in these two communities.” Kooskia Mayor Schilling commented “Thank you to Freedom Northwest Credit Union for their ongoing and continued support of our community! Because of generous people like you, the city park in Kooskia will enjoy a much anticipated splash pad, bringing fun and families together year after year. Thank you!!”
Mayor Schneider of Kamiah agreed, “The City of Kamiah is very grateful to Freedom Northwest Credit Union for their generous offer to construct this splash park at our city park. It will provide a wonderful place for our children to spend quality time during the hot summer days. It is so refreshing to have such great civic-pride exhibited by the credit union by investing in our community’s children.”
FNWCU CEO Scott Garrett added, “By effective management of our balance sheet and credit union expansion, we can support these worthy efforts while still growing our member’s capital at a faster pace than the competition and offering ultra-competitive financial solutions. We greatly appreciate the cooperation of both cities and their efforts to make this possible.”
The Kids’ Splash Fountains give visitors to the parks a chance to cool off and have some fun during the hot summer months. Efficient water play grounds like these have the distinct advantage in being cost effective with low maintenance. Plus, water-play activities extend beyond the traditional swimming pool season. The Kooskia Splash Fountain should be completed by summer 2017 and the Kamiah Splash Fountain is scheduled for completion by the following year.
The community water parks are water playgrounds that include the following amenities; six underground spray features that spray upward in various patterns and a center mascot that sprays in a multitude of directions. Four sitting benches are included for adult supervision and concrete walks provide to access the park area.
